Located in an outlying rural area near Washington, DC, the Saugatuck Farm project includes site planning for a series of spaces around a large villa, an entry approach, and several large landscape spaces throughout the site.
The design called for a series of gardens and the larger site gestures that recalled the sort of landscapes found in the hills of Tuscany. The site is organized around a tree-lined drive that approaches the house down a long grade through an orchard of 350 apple trees. Immediately adjacent to the villa itself, a series of well-ordered gardens, each with a distinctive water feature, extend the living space associated with various wings of the house out into the surrounding landscape.
